'When we started out as mere pet owners and animal lovers, rescuing the odd kitten and taking it off to one of the big shelters, it slowly dawned on us that shelter conditions are really not suitable for these sensitive creatures, despite the best efforts of the concerned groups, mainly due to over-crowded conditions.
Anguished at the situation, we started taking in kittens and when they didn’t find homes, we just kept them..until we realised we had reached full-house! It soon became evident that there is a crying need for homes, shelters, rescue facilities, a sterilisation programme….. '
Does this sound familiar? It's from the website of Cattitude, a network of concerned cat - and other animal - lovers in Chennai. We read about their activities while we were in Chennai this weekend, and Yasmine spoke to their founder, Devika. They try to do a lot of the same things most of us are also attempting to achieve in Bangalore. Among other things they are trying to help an amazing lady named Mary, a tsunami survivor resettled in Chennai who rescues and nurtures stray cats. We're thinking of ways to help her and to netwowk with Cattitude. More on that later. In the meantime. take a look at their site and read their newsletter.

Wonderful Idea!
Let the network grow ... the larger the network, the more willl be our capacity to help and serve !
We can reach out our hands for help through our network to far off places in India! We could also have some animal lovers in other cities to join us in our efforts!
Yes, that's what I'm hoping for.
Hi! I was just wondering if you had any suggestions for cat boarding when we're out of town. We have a large 2 year old Indian tomcat!
I'd suggest you go to the Cattitude link and get in touch with them.
